Where Are Your Fellow Readers From

Today marks the 3 week anniversary of my blog. Well, I was a few days late, but who's counting?

What started out as an avenue for me to release my pent up creative energy turned into something quite interesting.

How I Fixed A Broken Window Blind for RM1.60

I bought a few such blinds from a popular furniture mall in PJ few years back. After a couple of years of almost daily usage ( up and down ), the plastic bracket on the "adjusting" side broke and the entire blind simply fell off. The part of the bracket that touches the screw broke off.

How I Beat The Heat Without Air Conditioner

Malaysia is a hot and humid country, with a capital HOT. And believe it or not, our modern rumah batu is not really optimized for our climate. The bricks/batu/stone retains heat absorbed during the day, and the heat is released at night, mostly inside the house.

Make Your Underground Autogate Motor Last Longer at Almost No Cost

There are several types of autogate systems in Malaysia. The 2 main types i can think of for swing gates are the arm type and the underground type.

The underground type has a main disadvantage, namely flooding. I have an underground system when I bought my house 5 years ago. It was not working when the house was handed over to me ( flooded ) and I paid somebody to repair it. That repair did not last long, and 3 months later, flooded again.  =(

4 Different Levels Of Banana. How White Are You?

Photo by Lotte Löhr on Unsplash

Banana, or my favorite moniker, OrangCinaBukanCina ( OCBC ). The yellow on the outside, white on the inside phenomenon. Doesn't affect many of us, but those of us who are affected really know the judgemental stares you get when somebody first finds out you are one.

6 Considerations To Reduce Your Wedding Cost - Part I

Ask anyone who is about to get married what is their number 1 concern, most will tell you its the cost of the darn thing. Some weddings can cost up to RM200,000, as much as an entry level German luxury car. At least the car can last you a few years, but your wedding will likely last a few hours.

So why are weddings such a wealth killin, credit card bursting event that will send your banker running for the hills? Well, I think it stems from the expectation that this is a once a lifetime thing, most people pull out all the stops. Monica Geller once asked Ross along the lines of 'You may think of the wedding for about a month, she has been thinking about it since she was five'. Five, a time where unicorns roam the skies, and animals will sing with you. Hardly a good time to make financial decisions.
